New Journal for the MENA Region

The Journal of New Media Studies is a new bi-annual online journal dealing with new media and communication technologies in the Middle East and North Africa. JNMS is an interdisciplinary and open access journal affiliated with Northeastern University's Middle East Center for Culture, Peace and Development.

Contemporary mobile, internet, and computing technologies currently inform culture and society around the world. In the Middle East and North Africa, as elsewhere, technology has created new media avenues for interaction while blending them with existing channels of oral, written and multi-media communication. The Journal of New Media Studies in the Middle East and North Africa was created out of a clear need to encourage research in this exciting field and promotes work done in and by researchers from the countries making up this region as well as research related to the region from anywhere in the world.

We are currently accepting papers, in English, French, or Arabic, on a wide range of topics addressing intersections between technology, language, and culture and society. We also accept review articles. Papers should range from 7,000-10,000 words. Reviews should be no more than 800 words. Contributions may be from any discipline and theoretical orientation.

Please read submission guidelines and aims and scope before submitting a paper.
