Call for Papers: Arab Women & their Struggle for Socio-Economic and Political Rights

This Special Issue of the Journal of International Women's Studies (JIWS) solicits articles on Arab women in general and their struggle for socio-economic and political rights in particular. Submissions will address a broad range of discussions on issues related to Arab women, the challenges facing them, their accomplishments, and their efforts to overcome the structural, cultural and societal hurdles impedes their progress. We are seeking articles that tackle the above stated issues, specifically covering the Arab world: Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Syria, Sudan, and Tunisia. UAE and Yemen.

Scholars and activists are invited to submit unpublished manuscripts that are currently not under review. Please consult the JIWS web site ( www.bridgew.edu/jiws/) for submission guidelines including length, format and bibliographical/referencing styles. The deadline for submission is October 31st, 2010. Forward all submissions via email attachment to the special issue editors:

  • Submissions on the following countries should be submitted to Dr. Muhamad Olimat at his e-mail: <molimat@yahoo.com> : Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Somalia, and Comoros.
